Author’s Notes

First I’d like to say:

1) I started out this fic with no intention of having Ranma and Ami fall in love. It just happened.

2) I wanted to kill Ranko and that would be the end of it. But, if I had done that, my editors (and probably all my readers) would have killed me.

Anyways, here we come to the end of the fic that started out as just fleeting thought of “I wonder what would happen if someone fell in love with a youma?” and ended up interrupting the flow of the Dragonball R trilogy (darn!).

Like I said, I started out with no intention of Ami and Ranma getting together. It was originally going to be Ranma falling for Ranko and him having to fight off the senshi to keep her alive. These ideas quickly fell by the wayside as the story started to take on a life of its own. Even a few foreshadowing things fell in by accident like: Mercury being the first senshi mentioned by name, Ranko’s youma form being modeled after the one that Ami fought in her first appearance in the TV series, and some other clues that mysteriously found their way into the story. Don’t ask me how these things happen, I just write as I go.

That brings us to the second point: Ranko was made to die. The original way was going to be death and then Ranma would re-absorb the heart crystal and become as he was before. But, one of my editors had informed me that I had made a “Very likable character” in Ranko and would have “several upset readers” if I just killed her off. (The other editor just said he was going to kill me.) So I thought about it and came up with a way for her to live again. I just threw Akane in for the hell of it.

But overall I feel I have a good story and I hope (if you’re reading this) you enjoyed it.
